There are now direct flights to Crete from London, Manchester and Glasgow.

Crete. Let's show you...

First stop: The beach. It doesn’t matter if you don’t remember the Greek name, after a couple of ouzo’s what does it matter?

The beach at Maleme

But since you’re here to look at property, how about we show you some of the stunning properties this superb developer has in their portfolio and not far from this very beach.

Shade on Maleme Beach

Only a three minute walk from the beach at Maleme, is Artemis Gardens. This superb five-star development has been sensitively designed to both complement, and take full advantage of, its beautiful surroundings. The emphasis is placed on quality, not only in regard to the standard of construction, but also in respect of the lifestyle to be enjoyed here. All the homes are suitable for holiday use or for year-round living.

Artist's impression of Artemis Gardens

Located on a plot of 1,180 m², Artemis Gardens consists of one and two bedroom townhouses (from €220,000) and bungalows (from €130,000) set amongst landscaped gardens and with a shared pool. Other facilities include a communal poolside kitchen and barbecue area, toilets and showers. Each home also has air conditioning, roller shutters on windows and doors, wooden open pergolas, installation for satellite TV and installation for a security system.

Bougainvillea cascading over a doorway

Crete is certainly worth giving some thought to. The announcement by the Greek government they would be spending £2billion on upgrading Sitia airport not only gave a huge boost to the property market and tourist industry, but it made a lot of investors sit up too!

The 200-year-old village house

This is typical of some of the lovely renovated properties you can see in Crete. This 200-year-old village house in Kalathenes, Kissamos, Chania has a separate studio flat and an additional storeroom that could be made into another flat. (The plumbing is already in place for a bathroom). It was an important house in the village, being the home of the village doctor for many years and before that, the home of a Cretan freedom fighter! There is a delightful paved terrace through a traditional Cretan arch, shaded by bourgainvillea and yet another door leads to a secluded courtyard garden with a water feature. Above the guest apartment and storeroom, a grape vine has been trained to provide shelter on those warm afternoons. It is the perfect place to contemplate and admire the sea and mountain views. There are stunning views of the surrounding countryside from the the two bedrooms upstairs towards the Bay of Kissamos. There is satellite TV, Internet and telephone connections. The asking price is €265,000.

And here is another one....

A stone villa in Kastelli

This is a detached stone villa for €230,000 located in a peaceful olive grove in Kastelli. The villa is ready to move into. There is an open-plan kitchen/dining room with open fireplace and patio doors leading onto a terrace overlooking a pool. Wooden stairs lead to two bedrooms, each with access to separate balconies with wonderful sea views across the bay of Chania. There is air-conditioning for hot and cold air, a solar panel providing hot water and TV points. There is a large garden and a traditional stone barbecue. The villa is just 3km from the beach!

Resale apartments at Kavros

The Mill is situated in the village of Kamissiana which boasts a fabulous beach. You can choose from apartments that start from around €60,000 or detached one and two bedroom townhouses with a backdrop of the White Mountains on this small development, nestling in the olive groves. There are studio, one and two bedroom apartments with fitted kitchen and white goods. The beautiful, tiled terraces have sea views. Call us for more information.

And now... Another beach:

Tavronitis Beach

Just 200 meters from this stunning beach at Tavronitis are a selection of beautiful homes at Waters Edge. The new, three bedroom, two-storey homes are surrounded by olive trees in a variety of plot sizes, around 500m2. There is a basement and covered terrace.

And that beach again...?

Falarsena overlooking the Cretan Sea

What can we say about the Mediterranean island of Crete? Homer found the largest Greek island “hospitable, handsome and fertile”, and what could be said about it in the time of Ancient Greece could still be said today. You are spoilt with major cities in the north, snow-capped mountains in the centre and idyllic, unspoilt locations in the south.

Small villages huddle in the snowy mountains

Take the time to watch the sun go down over the sandy beaches or rooftops of the beautiful old town and harbour of Chania in the west.

Dusk over the old town

The rustic charm of Charnia

There is a wide selection of stunning new homes for you here! From an average temperature of 12°c in January to 26°c in July, Crete boasts Europe’s warmest temperatures and lowest cost of living! Take country walks amidst an abundance of citrus fruit, olive trees and grape vines. Fill your picnic baskets with local produce: fresh-baked local bread, honey, cheese, herbs, tomatoes and wine. Walk the narrow streets of the Venetian town of Chania and be prepared to be overwhelmed by a faded grandeur; an echo of almost 400-years of Venetian rule. Make this your future new home.

An evening stroll along the promenade

There are flights from the UK directly to the capital, Heraklion or Chania, two hours drive from Heraklion. Fly via British Airway’s subsidiary, GB Airways from Gatwick and Manchester and direct from Glasgow International. Aegean and Olympic Airlines fly regularly from Athens. Or, why don’t you take the overnight ferry from Piraeus in Greece to the port of Souda which serves Chania.
